During my first pregnancy, I thought I had it made…no morning sickness, no exhaustion, and best of all no heartburn or embarrassing episodes of gas. That wonderful feeling continued throughout the next two pregnancies. By the time I found myself carrying my fourth child, things were incredibly different. The worst part of it all was the constant heartburn, gas, diarrhea, and cramping. And I blamed the pregnancy.
So after I had my baby, I was sure I would feel much better. However, little did I know my symptoms were not because of being pregnant. But what was wrong? I was miserable every single day. If I was not doubled over in pain from constipation, I was dealing with diarrhea so incredibly painful that I couldn’t even go to work. After those terrible days, I found myself in tears suffering from heartburn. It was so bad I was afraid to eat anything. In an effort to “fix” my digestive problems I refused to eat fried foods, refused to eat after six in the evening, refused to eat anything spicy, and eventually ate nothing but cereal. I was miserable. Then one day it all went wrong.
Although I followed my own little home remedies religiously, one morning, I was literally barely able to get out of bed. My husband took me to the hospital and they simply told me, after hours and hours of tests, that I had Irritable Bowel System (IBS). I was miserable and decided to find the cure I needed.
